Villa Hibiscus I

4 guests2 bedrooms2 beds2 baths

A private infinity-edge pool beside a working rice paddy — and a stream running through the valley below.

The infinity edge does something particular here. The pool stops, and the paddy starts, and from the deck there is no visible line between them.

Hibiscus I sits directly beside a working rice field on the quiet edge of Padonan. Behind carved Balinese gates it is entirely private, but the view is wide open — and in the little valley below, a stream runs quick and clear. You hear it through the birdsong, all day.

Two king ensuites, a frangipani tree at the heart of the garden, and some of the loveliest sunsets in the neighbourhood watched straight from your own deck.

The Space

Brand-new, single-level, and finished in the cream, teak and sage that runs through every Nusa villa.

A snug, thoughtfully styled living room opens through two sets of sliding doors to the pool and garden — a two-seater sofa, two accent chairs, a flexible coffee-and-dining table, a rattan rug, and a curated layer of cushions, throws and plants. A wall-mounted 42-inch smart TV and a ceiling fan; slide the doors open and the breeze does the rest.

The kitchen is small and snug but covers everything for a relaxed stay: two-burner gas stove with extractor, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, water dispenser, sink, good storage, basic cookware, and crockery, cutlery and glassware for four. Made for slow breakfasts, light lunches and sundowners by the pool — for a proper candlelit dinner party you will want to dine out, and Padonan and Canggu's best tables are minutes away.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Both bedrooms are built for deep, restful sleep: a king-size bed in hotel-quality linens; air conditioning, with both sheer and full room-darkening curtains; a large corner accent chair, a wall-mounted dressing shelf with mirror, curated cushions; sliding patio doors opening to the pool and garden.

Each has a private ensuite with a large walk-in shower, vanity basin, wardrobe storage, full-length mirror and plush hotel-quality towels.

Each room sleeps two — ideal for two couples or a small family of four, each with their own ensuite.

The Garden & Pool

The private infinity-edge pool is framed by frangipani, palms and bougainvillea, with a small lawn and a feature frangipani tree — the bloom this villa takes its name from, and the flower at the centre of the Nusa mark.

A spacious patio holds two sun loungers and a side table beneath a hand-fringed Balinese parasol. As the sun lowers over the paddies and the pool turns to glass, this is Hibiscus I at its most beautiful.

Private parking just outside the gates for two cars and several scooters, at the quiet end of a no-through street.

Living open to the tropics. The living space stays open to the garden by design — sliding doors that open wide, and the sound of the valley stream carrying up through birdsong.

With that comes nature itself, and more of it than a fully enclosed home: geckos on the walls, considered good fortune here; butterflies; and ants, mosquitoes or small insects that are simply part of tropical life, especially in the humid months. Roosters and local temple ceremonies are a wonderful part of village life and can sometimes be heard too.

We carry out professional pest control every four weeks, far more often than most, and both bedrooms close fully behind sliding doors and are air-conditioned for a sealed, cool night's sleep.

A note on cooling: both bedrooms are fully air-conditioned. The living and kitchen area is cooled by ceiling fan and cross-breeze rather than air conditioning — by design, so the heart of the villa stays open to the garden and the stream.

The Neighbourhood

Padonan is one of the quietest, greenest corners of Canggu — far enough from the buzz to wake to rice paddies, birdsong and running water, close enough to reach everything within minutes.

Berawa Beach is ten to fifteen minutes by scooter, Pererenan Beach ten to fifteen, and Batu Bolong and Echo Beach around fifteen. Finns Beach Club is roughly fifteen minutes and Atlas fifteen to twenty, with Berawa's café and brunch strip ten to fifteen. Padel courts, yoga shalas, gyms and wellness studios are from around ten minutes.

Cafés, warungs and specialty coffee are a few minutes from the gate; supermarkets and pharmacies a short ride. Seminyak is twenty-five to thirty-five minutes, and the airport forty-five minutes to an hour depending on traffic.

And when you would rather not move at all, the paddy view, the pool and the sound of the stream are reason enough to stay home.

All times are approximate and by scooter — Bali's traffic shifts through the day.

Getting Around

Canggu is best on two wheels. Our own Nusa Havens fleet can be delivered to your gate before check-in, including licence-free electric vehicles that need no motorcycle permit.

Grab and Gojek are widely used and inexpensive, and a private driver or chauffeured car can be arranged for airport transfers, temple trips or a day further afield. A private airport transfer can be arranged for your arrival, so a friendly face is waiting when you land.

Drivers, chefs and island days can be arranged through our experiences.

Good to Know

Check-in from 4:00 PM, check-out by 11:00 AM. Self check-in available, with full details sent before arrival. A valid passport is required for guests aged 18 and over — standard for villa stays in Bali.

Your Villa Hostess welcomes every guest personally. For arrivals after 9:00 PM a small late-welcome fee applies, so she can stay and greet you properly however late your journey.

The infinity-edge pool is unfenced and ungated, and not heated. Please take care around the water — children and infants must be supervised at all times, particularly under-12s and non-swimmers. The villa sits at the quiet end of a no-through street, and we ask that the gates are kept closed. A cot and high chair are available on request with notice.

Private leisure stays only — no events or parties, in respect of our neighbours, especially in the evenings. Smoking in the garden and pool area only. One small, house-trained dog is welcome — we are unable to accommodate cats, large dogs or more than one pet, and an additional deep-clean fee applies. No security deposit is required; we simply ask that you treat the villa with the care we put into preparing it.

Bali is developing quickly, and building work happens across the island. We chose this calm corner of Padonan for its peace and protect it as far as we can, but we do not control the land around us. Should nearby noise arise, message your Villa Hostess and we will do what we can.
